2 Days Safari to Ruaha National Park

Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel in Iringa after breakfast and heads west through Miombo woodland and baobab-dotted valleys to Ruaha Main Gate. After park formalities you cross the Great Ruaha River and check in at your camp for lunch. The afternoon belongs to the river circuit, where elephant herds come down to drink, giraffe browse the acacia and lion prides wake up as the heat fades. Stay out until the last light catches the baobabs, then return to camp for dinner around the fire and the sounds of the bush.

Leave camp at first light with coffee and a packed breakfast, when predators are still active and the river valley is at its most atmospheric. Your guide follows the freshest tracks along the sand rivers and kopjes – lion, leopard, wild dog, kudu and sable are all possible in Ruaha. Return to camp for lunch around midday, then exit the park with a final game drive on the way to the gate and drive back to Iringa, arriving in the late afternoon in time for an onward bus, flight or overnight in town.
