A full-day walk through Kilimanjaro's green foothills – Chagga coffee from cherry to cup, then an 80-metre waterfall swim beneath the forest canopy.
Leave Moshi or Arusha after breakfast and climb into the Materuni village belt on Kilimanjaro's southern slopes. Your guide introduces Chagga farming life before a hands-on coffee experience: pick ripe cherries, roast over open fire, grind with traditional tools and taste fresh Kilimanjaro Arabica.
A shaded forest trail leads to Materuni Waterfall – one of the tallest falls on the mountain's lower slopes. Swim in the pool if you wish, picnic with views across the valley, then return to your hotel by mid-afternoon. Ideal as a rest day between longer treks or a gentle first day in Tanzania.
Pick-up from Moshi or Arusha. Drive to Materuni village, meet local farmers and join the traditional coffee process – picking, roasting, grinding and tasting.
40-minute walk through tropical forest and coffee shambas to the 80 m waterfall. Swim in the crystal pool (optional) and enjoy a picnic lunch with mountain views.
Walk back to the vehicle and return to your hotel by early afternoon – time free for packing or a Moshi town stroll.
Daily departures from Moshi or Arusha hotels. Wild Gaze arranges pick-up as part of your quote – allow 45–60 minutes each way from Moshi.
