A 3 Days hike to Uluguru Mountains will take you from Morogoro to this only unique southern Tanzania or Eastern Arc Mountains Ranges all the way to Bondwa peak (2080 m) or Lupanga Peak, this scenic range is green and offers lovely views and enjoyable hiking; take a visit to Choma Village and the Choma Waterfalls for a refreshing swim includes a stop at an old German mountain hut.
Unique to the Ulugurus are over 100 plants, 2 birds, 2 mammals, 4 reptiles and 6 amphibians unknown elsewhere in the world. Endemic species include African Violets, Impatiens, and Begonias which are popular pot-plants in the rest of the world.
Walk from Morogoro town to Choma village and waterfall with your guide; it takes 3 hours walk to the village, proceed towards Choma waterfalls for a swim. Head to the village where you can participate in some traditional activities such as mate weaving and a visit to a traditional healer. Go to a local family which doubles as your homestay, cook and eat traditional food with a local family in the mountains.
After breakfast in the morning head to Morningside Camp. Proceed towards Uluguru Forest/Bondwa Peak about 2080 m. It takes 5 hours to go up and down from Morningside camp. At the summit, you may see a nice view over Morogoro town if there are no clouds. Walk back to Morningside for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
