4 Days Full Boat Safaris – Nyerere National Park

Africa’s largest national park by area, Nyerere (formerly Selous) is defined by the mighty Rufiji River – a network of channels, lakes and sandbanks where boat safaris deliver wildlife encounters impossible from a vehicle alone.

Nyerere National Park protects over 30,000 square kilometres of pristine wilderness in southern Tanzania – rivers, woodlands, and open plains that together form one of Africa’s greatest remaining ecosystems. The Rufiji River is the park’s lifeblood: a vast braided waterway where boat safaris bring you within metres of hippo pods, basking crocodiles, and elephant families coming to drink at sunset.

Wild Gaze Safaris operates its own boats on the Rufiji, giving our guests unmatched flexibility on the water. Unlike a standard game drive, a boat safari moves silently through channels and lakes, opening sightings of water birds, otters, and predators drinking at the shoreline. Walking safaris with armed rangers add a ground-level dimension, while evening game drives complete the picture.

This four-day package includes three nights at a riverside tented bush camp with full board, three full days of boat exploration, walking trails, and game drives – the definitive southern Tanzania river safari experience.

Morning Boat Safari ? Return to Iringa / Dar es Salaam
Dawn boat excursion – Camp breakfast – Road transfer out

A final morning boat safari captures the river at its most peaceful – mist on the water, hippos returning from their night feeding, and the calls of dawn birds. After breakfast at camp, transfer back to Iringa or Dar es Salaam, or connect to Ruaha or Mikumi for a longer southern circuit.
